In the autumn of 2022, we were able to build a 100-meter-deep well at Iloirero Primary School. The school is located in the drought-stricken Eselenkei region and had no access to clean water until now, which meant that the students had to fetch water daily from the village well several kilometers away. Since it was also used by the village community and many herders, clean water was always scarce.
Through the construction of the new well, including an electric pump, by the Big Girls Foundation, the supply of clean drinking water can now be ensured for around 720 students. This creates the foundation for good learning conditions for the students and also allows us to provide water to nearby Maasai families and wildlife such as elephants.
